Greetings,
Like so many others, Mission St Mary Magdalene has been greatly impacted by Covid. In March 2020 we stopped our in-person Sunday Gatherings; however, by God’s grace and with a lot of help and a new skill set we began virtual online Gatherings on Sunday, May 3, 2020. Amazingly, our Average Sunday Attendance has doubled to roughly 30 people and many others watch the Youtube Gathering video during the week. We have also extended our footprint to include viewers from Ensenada, Rosarito and Tijuana, MX as well as San Diego, Laguna Beach, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Atlanta, Philadelphia and New York, US. We added a Zoom coffee hour in October. Who knew? Moving forward in this new “church” environment, we need to upgrade our Sunday worship experience in two ways. We need to allow for people to attend in-person Sunday morning worship that conforms to recommended social distancing guidelines AND we need to upgrade our online worship to provide live streaming for those who want to continue to worship remotely.
#1 Double the size of our Worship Space
For an additional $175 a month rent we can move our worship Gatherings next door in the same building and double our space to 2,400SF. The new space will accommodate 60+ people at non-restricted capacity or 15 people at the mandated 25% capacity and recommended 6’ social distancing. It also has wide winery style double wood doors that can open to allow great air circulation to help combat potential transmission. This is our current space that we will double in size.
#2 Upgrade Online Worship
It goes without saying that Church worship is forever altered by this pandemic. We currently assemble a bunch of individual recordings from multiple sites in to one video that we stream virtually on Sunday mornings. As things get back to a new normal, we expect that many people will come back to in-person Sunday worship. We also know that many people will want to continue to worship remotely. MSMM will need to serve both groups by upgrading to in-person and live streaming Sunday Gatherings.
So, when conditions warrant and by the grace of God, here is what we want to do next:
- Lease and move in to the new large space.
- Use the larger space to start recording the Gathering on Fridays at the church building with worship leaders on site instead of the current of multiple site recordings.
- Offer in-person 10am Sunday worship Gatherings in the church building AND live stream to those who choose to worship remotely.
We need $8,000 for the live streaming equipment and our increase in rent.
Please consider a Christmas Season Year End gift to support Mission St Mary Magdalene upgrade. Please consider giving to your capacity. We won’t waste a dime. Thank you for your prayerful consideration.
